A Day at the Museums

Photo compliments of Jaren.
Like how he cut our heads off?

All the kiddos.

Follow me, there's nothing to be affraid of.

First I tried to get Beckham to pretend to kiss this beast. No go.
Then I tried to get Hannah to kiss the beast. No go.
She told me how embarrassing that would be.
So I handed the camera to Jaren and had him take one of me, making a fool of myself.
Hannah told me how embarrassing that was.

Kelli, Me, Brooke, and Sara

The only photo of MOA.
I was quickly told by the Security Guard that no pictures are aloud.
WHOOPS!!!

The Monday after Christmas Kelli and I decided to take the kids to the BYU Museums. Since Brooke was in town we invited her to come along. Brooke's cousin Sara was coming into town so she as well joined us along with her two daughters; Jenny and Sammy. We had a GREAT time.

Our first stop was the Bean Museum. This is a museum full of taxidermy. It can be a little scary for kids. Having all those huge stuffed animals staring blanking at you. I remember when Jaren was a wee toddler and was petrified of all the bears. I would take him by the standing brown bear just to enjoy is reaction. Which was a death grip around my neck hiding his face in my shoulder. Another example of pure parental entertainment at the expense of a child.

I digress.

While at the Bean Museum I ran into a friend from High School, Lisa. It was so much fun to run into her and her brand new baby. She now has 3 kids. I introduced her to all my kids and when we came to Grace she exclaimed, "It's like meeting a celebrity." She expressed how cute she thought Grace was on my blog and she's just as cute in person. It was great to see her and chat for just a moment.

After that we headed to the MOA. My kids are learning to appreciate some good art. After the MOA we walked to the Bookstore where we indulged in another BYU tradition; The candy counter. I bought all the kids a 1/4 pound of their favorite candy. I think my favorite part of going to BYU is the walk between the MOA and the bookstore. I love watching people react to me and my gaggle of children. I love watching my children run and play with each other. I love remembering my childhood days frequenting that same campus. Although it is not the same as in my youth. The feeling is the same, and I love it.

After the Bookstore we headed to the Museum of Paleontology. Unfortunately that was closed. So we went to the creamery. No trip to BYU is complete without a scoop of their delicious ice cream. Unfortunately the place was packed and there was hardly a seat to be had. We squeezed into a few tables. I couldn't handle the crowdedness and had to leave. We quickly said our good-byes to Brooke as we wouldn't be seeing her again before she left for Vegas.

It was a great day, that almost didn't happen. I was feeling like crap in the morning. But I knew the kids would have been devastated if we didn't go. So I ponied up and made myself push through what ever it was that was ailing me. Well, when we got home, I collapsed on my bed, sending all the kids down to the basement so I could rest. I made myself get out of bed once I heard Brent come home. I was no use. My body was aching, my stomach was cramping and I had chills that were multiplying. I went straight to bed. Brent and the kids had to fend for themselves. I eventually blew chunks. It was not pretty and I didn't even feel that much better after the episode. Needless to say I had a wrest less night and spend the next day vegging out on the coach.

Being a mother of a busy busy household, I couldn't stay sick for long. Even though I wasn't feeling a hundred percent the 3rd day, I had to get up and get going. A household quickly falls apart when mom is sick.

That is crazy that you were sick. I would have never guessed it. It must have been going around, because Alleah woke up on Tuesday morning (the day after we were all together) in a bed full of throw up. I felt so bad for her. She had thrown up during the night but not cried and we did not hear her and so she slept in it for who knows how long. The smell was almost more than I could handle. She ended up throwing up 2 more times after that. Hopefully we did not give something to you.

Thanks for the fun day. I look forward to the next time we can get together.

Looks like you had a great time! I didn't know you were into kissing large game animals!
