Beckham and Mrs. Aagard
I wasn't home after the last day of school. I had a wedding to be at. I didn't see the kids until later on that day. After putting the kids to bed Beckham came into our bedroom and he was just crying. Poor guy, he was going to miss Mrs. Aagard. I should have expected this. He had been asking me several days before the last day of school if it was true that school was really ending. I thought he was excited, but I guess I was wrong. I held him and comforted and told him it was okay to miss Mrs. Aagard. He's such a tender hearted little guy. Beckham had a really hard time focusing on his work rather then his friends. We struggled with that all year. Despite that Beckham turned out to be a really good reader and he LOVES math.
Annika and Mr. Crockett
Mr. Crockett was GREAT for Annika. He was a very kind and uplifting teacher. Annika struggled with Math this year and getting her home work turned in on time. After failing a few times Annika realized the importance of being on top of things and ended on a great note. I'm proud that she grew so much.
Mr. Bradford and Isabel
This is the combo that we struggled with the most this year. Isabel is an adult pleaser and she just could never get Mr. B's attention. Isabel also struggled with a certain student in the class that would tease her and was mean to her. We finally got things figured out and she too ended the year really strong. She got all E's across the board. Isabel is a wonderful student who has a lot of determination, despite the conflicts she faced every day.
Hannah and Mrs. Taylor
Oh Hannah, my Hannah. She had a GREAT 6th grade year. She had two teachers and they both LOVED her to pieces. Hannah is a natural leader, reader and super good at math. The only time Hannah struggled was in the mornings. I think she changed her clothes 3 sometimes up to 4 times before she found that perfect outfit. Sometimes we had meltdowns which included many tears and boogers, a complete hot mess. I blame it on the hormones. I tried to show some patience with it all. I'm not going to lie, it's super hard and it will be a complete miracle if I made it through adolescence. Lucky me, I get to have 3 girls going through it. Watch out Hormonal City!!! (Please, pray for me.)
Teacher Gifts
Being on a tight budget you have to get creative when trying to make things special. I ended up making home made bread for each of the teachers. I couldn't afford to go out and buy pretty ribbon, so I scrounged up some pretty fabric. While at the dollar store I found some cute hand towels for the female teachers and inscribed in their cards " Thanks for having a 'hand' in my child's life." For the male teachers I found a huge nut roll and inscribed in the card "Thanks for not going 'nuts' teaching this year." So DORKY, I know. I wish I were more clever, but it is what it is. At least they looked pretty, right? I am really grateful to the teachers in my children's lives. They spend so much time with my kids that is so important that they are a good influence on them. I feel as though Spanish Oaks is a great school with great teachers.
Now, on to summer...

I always do bread too. Not only is it cheap, but who doesn't love homeade bread! Your kids are getting so big!!!
Excellent gift idea and beautiful packaging! You ARE clever. I am so happy that you posted photos of the kids with their teachers. I was reminded of how HUGE an influence your elementary school teachers has on your life.
Loved the huge smiles on the kids faces with their teachers. Remeber Huck Finn Days this Friday!
Okay, so I have to ask, was Annika's teacher Gregg Crockett? He looks older than I remember (obviously), but I went to high school with him. I think we might have even gone on a date or two. He was a good guy.
I LOVE the bread idea! I'll teach your kids something if you make me homemade bread?!? :D It was so good to see you and the fam on Sunday! Thanks Aunt Penny for the invite!
