Swimming in the Eel River

After Founder's Grove we drove down to Four Fireplaces to go swimming.  It was exceptionally warm this year for Humbolt Count and it was perfect swimming weather.

Jaren refused to go in the water for fear of ruining his hair.
He's worse then a girl when it comes to that hair!

Beckham spent more time out of the water then anyone else.
He's never been a huge fan of swimming.

Grace, on the other hand, can't get enough of it!
She started talking about going swimming back in February.

Two little Fish!

Ahhhh, look.  He finally took the plunge!

I took Elsie for a little bit.
She really wanted to walk over the bride.
She really wanted to jump in the river, too.
Instead, I got her to sit down with me and dangle our feet over the edge.

I have to admit, I really enjoy being an Aunt.
I loved every time Elsie would reach for me.  She knew I'd help do what ever it was her Mom didn't want her to do. That's what Aunt's are for, right?

The views from the eel River are stunning.
This is a little further down at William's Grove.
We picniced in the Redwoods there and then the kids begged to swim again.

Making sure I get a photo of the two of us.
Very important, you know.

At both Four Fireplaces and William's Grove we tried skipping rocks.  I stink at it.  Brent is a pro. I had more fun looking for the perfect skipping rocks rather then throwing them.  Skipping rocks takes a lot of skill, coordination, with the perfect flick of the wrist.  None of which I was blessed with.  Jaren got pretty good at it too.  Notice the hat covering the now wet hair?
