The last several weeks I have been trying to be more positive with my sweet Isabel. She goes at life like a bull-dozer. Plowing over everyone and everything in her path. But she is also so sweet to give compliments and to serve others by doing their chores. I tried pointing this out to her the other morning when she finished making Annika's bed. " Do you know what it is that you just did?" I asked her. She didn't know so I proceeded to explain that she just finished serving Annika. I asked her how she felt about that and try to point out how much better it felt to serve someone rather then to argue and fight with them.
Isabel has put a lot of thought into this. The other morning she came up to me and said, "Mom, you serve us all the time don't you?" I said Yes. She went on to explain how I do this, by making the kids breakfast, and lunch and dinner and doing our laundry. I was so proud of her and her understanding of service.
We must have been talking a lot about it. Last Saturday morning we were all doing our chores. I was trying to help Beckham pick up and sort his clean and dirty clothes. In an among his clothes were some of Jaren's. I asked Beckham to take the dirty clothes to the laundry shoot. As he picked up the clothes he skipped down the hall way singing " I'm serving Jaren. I'm serving Jaren."
What other conversations has my little man been listening to? I guess I better be on my best behavior.
