Face Painting

The beginning of summer is so hard. I find that my kids are use to being busy 6 hrs a day with school and don't know what to do with themselves with all their free time. I feel strongly that they need to have structure and chores and a few fun outings during the summer. But I also don't feel like I should be the one entertaining them 10 hrs a day. I am constantly Bombarded with "I'm so bored", " There's nothing to do here", "You never let me play with friends". It's not like I can up and take my kids anywhere during the summer. For one, it's expensive to take 5 children anywhere. And second, with gas prices being so freaking expensive and it's only going to get worse. I knew I was going to have to start getting creative and take them to Free activities.
I was not planning on going anywhere yesterday. But as I sat down to breakfast and my daily paper I came across an article with a list of things to do. One of them was an Art Festival at the Museum of Art at BYU, which was free. In my quest this summer to be a more active mother with my children I cowboyed up and headed to the Museum. This is usually an activity that I wouldn't even take a second look at. The kids got their chores done and we were off. My Mom ended up coming with us spur of the moment, which was so nice. It ended up being very busy, and very noisy. I made a valiant effort. And I hope my kids had fun.
I still ended up spending some money to take them to the Creamery on 9th. You can't go to BYU and Not go to the Creamery.

Fun times. Those are great pictures of the kids. I know they had a good time, it was a perfect day for exploring. Thanks for asking me to come.
