Grandma's Ornaments hung in Christmas Delight

My pot shelve.
Hopefully taking new life with every season.

Grandma's ornament up close.

I love my tree!
Thanks Jessica, you are so thoughtful and generous!

Isn't it fun and festive?

While trying to pass the time before my flight, my sister and I went to the Crate and Barrel outlet in Baltimore. I ran in just to use the restroom and was overwhelmed by the granduer of the store. I didn't want to leave my sister waiting for me too long so I was in and out fast. My sis. went in as well but took the time to browse. She's really good at that. When she ran through the ran back to the car she said she had found something that she just had to get for me. After running back and forth in the pouring rain again she entered the car with a big package. Inside was this silver tree. She had also bought me a few ornaments to adorn the tree with. She's such an amazing, caring and generous sister!!! I hope someday to return all her generosity.
As I was thinking about this great tree as it was sitting at my feeting during my flights home a brilliant idea came to my mind. Every year Brent's Mom makes all the kids Christmas Ornaments. She is carrying on a tradition that her Mom did for Brent all growing up. I decided that I would take this silver tree and use it to display Grandma's ornaments. And then the following year they would make their way to our real tree making way for the new ones to be showcased. What a brillian idea, right? I thought so.
I love how the tree has turned out and can't wait to see what next year's ornaments are going to look like. I have to say, when Brent first told me that we had to get his ornaments, when we were first married, I thought how lame it was going to be. I soon came to love love love this tradition. The excitement and anticipation of seeing the ornaments for the first time reminded me of my childhood and of Christmas' past. I didn't think anything would be able to replicate that feeling, but this tradition did. Now Grandma Edith has parkinsons and it's progressed to the point where she no longer can make the ornaments and has to stop with this great tradition. Although we understand completely, we will miss getting that package in the mail and seeing our ornaments for the first time.
I'm grateful to Donna for caring on this tradition.

I'm glad you liked it and weren't like, 'thanks for forcing your crazy style on me.' I love your use for it! Sorry to hear grandma can't make ornaments anymore--must make the ones you do have that much more precious.
