It's been fun to display them.
This photo showcases are new family photo.
I love the way it looks.
I love the way it looks.
I picked this backing because it said the word Joy.
One of my favorite words. I'm continually striving to find Joy all year round.
And this is what it looks like laid on Hannah's bed.
This is one of my favorite traditions that I've started with my kids. It began about 5 years ago with just some quilt I had hanging around. I loved the quilts that my Aunt and Mom make and decided to start making a new one each year. I was going to stop at 6, one for each child. But I don't know that I could stop at just 6. I love how this tradition brings us together every night as a family. We read from a Christmas book, sometimes we sing, and sometimes we get really silly. Thanks to Dad. He is probably the biggest kid in the house. But it's all so much fun and I hope my kids build many fun memories around the quilt.
The quilt is set out December 1st. It's so fun to watch the kids get excited and do their best to get their chores done in the morning. The quilt is not just randomly placed on a child's bed. It depends on their attitude in the morning, how well they do their morning chores, and how well they get along with others. The child who is chosen gets to pick what book we read and we all gather around their bed. That same child gets to sleep with the quilt that night. On December 24th the quilt is place upon Mom and Dad's bed. On Christmas morning the kids gather on our bed and we talk about the birth of the Savior. The real reason we celebrate Christmas. After we talk about His birth we then allow them to go down and open gifts.
It's been a wonderful addition to our Holiday traditions.

This year's quilt is a stunner! I love it! I love how the quilts reflect your changing sense of style and tell a different color story. Great tradition Amberlyn! We love our Christmas quilt!
I love this tradition, and your quilt is beautiful. I am definitely not a quilter (my blocks never line up), but I sure wish I could start something like this. It sounds wonderful!
What a awesome tradition! The quilts are beautiful, you are very talented. It must run in the family.
What an awesome tradition! If you want to keep making quilts after you have one for each of your children, you can make 'em for all mine. Hahaha. But I do want to learn how to quilt. Want to teach me?
They are beautiful, I am so impressed!
Beautiful. I love how you have your past year ones on display in your pretty room. Think how fun that is going to be when you have grandchildren and they come to your house and pull down one of the quilts and ask to snuggle with you. Fun, fun, fun. I need to remember to take pictures of my quilt and post about it. Thanks for the reminder.
Fun tradition. I made TJ's baby quilt and planned to make one for each baby. It is still the only quilt I have made (lamo me). I guess they don't have to be babies to get quilts. Thanks for the idea!
