On the 9th Day of Christmas

We made cookies and delivered them to neighbors.
Let's get this party started!

Grace not affraid to get in there.
When is she not affraid?

This was just the start of the floury mess.
I didn't get photos of the real mess due to my anxiety.

She's serious people.

Grace refused to look at the camera.

Aunt Brooke helping with the Sugar cookies.

Aunt Kelli dishing out the gingerbread.

Annika doing a superb job of rolling them into perfect balls.

Sugar cookies patiently waiting to be cooked.

Brooke and Kelli graciously accepted my offer to come and join us.
I'm so glad they did.

After a few years of not delivering cookies to our neighbors, and we ourselves receiving plates of goodies, Brent insisted we start this tradition. As with pretty much all activities that involve my 6 children there is usually a pretty big mess, lots of laughter, lots of teasing, lots of noise. This time was no different. Jaren and Beckham didn't participate too much in the making of the cookies. They were too interested in friends. Now that I look back I probably should have made them participate. But that would have meant a lot of complaining and and arguing and why this and why not's and I just wasn't in the mood to "fight". So I let it go and didn't force anyone to participate, just those that really wanted to. Aunt Brooke, Aunt Kelli and cousin Alleah all joined us. It was fun to have family with us that day. Isabel was so sweet and played with Grace and Alleah downstairs and helped them make cards to Kelli and me.

It sure is a production to get 10 plates of cookies made. It would be so much easier if I did all the cookies myself. But where are the memories in that? This year I did sugar cookies and gingerbread kisses. I will not ever be doing gingerbread again. I did not like them and I'm mortified that I actually gave them out to my neighbors.

We all hopped in the car and the kids had a blast running back and forth delivering the plates of cookies. It was hard for me to listen the struggles for seats in the back, and the back and for about who gets to carry the plate. Brent practiced a lot of patience and for that I am grateful.

How did you decorate your sugar cookies? I bought you a cookie cutter and should have included with the package I just sent. Oh well. Next year. How fun that aunts were involved! Those lucky ducks!
