One of my favorite radio stations that I listen to in the morning, 101.9 has changed. I really do love listening to Chunga and his silly antics. I have listened to the many changes this station has gone through. But this change was a little shocking. There is no more talkie talk in the morning. Which I really miss a ton. But they have so improved the music. It is now music for Generation X!! Holy Crap, that's me! All the songs that come on are songs that I LOVED when I was in High School and a Freshman in College! I found myself singing, very loudly, to Pour Some Sugar on Me! Which back in the day was sooo bad. And it still is. But that was MY music! That's not the only song. Almost every song that came on catapulted me back into High School. Every song had a memory connected to it! I felt young again. My kids just stood and stared at me as I "got down" in the kitchen and mouthed the words to several different songs. Sigh. Yes, kids, there was a time when I could "get down" and not look silly.
I realized that when I get into my Suburban I am appalled by the music that is played on XM radio, and through other air ways. I find myself tuning the dial to Sinatra station. Jaren wants to gag every time I do. He hates that kind of music. I tell him it's called big band, and it's classic and so safe!!
I've hit a milestone. I'm so old now that I hate most music that is played on the airways. It's crass, vulgar and downright sexual! I can't believe some of the lyrics that these so called artists are getting away with!!
And to think, it all started with Gone with the Wind, one of my favorite movies. Thanks a lot Rhett Butler!! "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn!!"

Even living far away from Vegas I heard about the radio station change. Seriously, I can't believe Chunga is gone! He was the staple through high school and college. I'm glad you like the music. I think I would love some of it, but other songs might conjure up painful, awkward memories. I guess my reaction would be mixed. :)
I was totally jammin' to Bel-Biv-Devoe the other night, "that girl is...poison!"
Even the old music can be tainted. I remember being floored (and laughing my head off) listening to an old Nat King Cole album a couple years ago. It's just more cleverly conceived. Today's stuff is so blatant!
That is funny that you said that.Just the other day I was driving in the car and thinking sheesh everything is garbage on the radio! Your right most lyrics are awful!
Music is powerful. Enjoy the memories and boogy with those kids!
Today I heard New Kids On the Block! So terrible! Some of that music is really embarassing to listen too! Oh my gosh!!!!
